Use meth to fight the flu, say scientists

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer

(NaturalNews) The determination with which the mainstream scientific community continues to vindictively reject natural cures has reached a new point of absurdity, as researchers from Taiwan are now touting methamphetamine drugs as a potential new cure for influenza. Yes, you read that correctly. As it turns out, influenza virus cells mostly die when directly exposed to meth, which is hardly shocking when considering that methamphetamine is already known to induce apoptosis, or cell death, in healthy cells, hence its illicit classification.

To put this into perspective, the new study's findings can be likened to claiming to have discovered that chlorine bleach kills influenza virus cells, and thus might make an effective flu treatment -- except for the fact that, like meth, ingesting chlorine bleach will likely kill you. And yet this is the completely illogical direction the medical system is moving as it grasps at straws to come up with some synthetic substance that might effectively treat the flu, while discarding many known natural cures such as vitamin D and elderberry.

According to the U.K.'s Daily Mail, researchers from the National Health Research Institutes and Linkou and Chang Gung University decided, for whatever reason, to test the effects of common methamphetamine drugs to see how influenza A, the most common type associated with widespread pandemics, would respond. They discovered that, after 30 to 48 hours of exposure, meth-exposed lung cells doused in influenza had fewer living flu cells than control cells not exposed to influenza.

Published in the online journal PLoS One, the findings are being touted by the research team that came up with them as significant for the future of flu treatment. Though the scientists involved have not come right out and recommended that people become meth addicts in order to avoid the flu, they are openly flirting with the idea of potentially using meth components in the future to treat the flu.

What about all those natural flu remedies that don't destroy brain function?

But as any seasoned Natural News reader likely already knows, there are literally thousands of natural compounds that are already known to prevent and treat the flu, none of which eat through brain tissue, destroy blood vessels, trigger cardiac arrest, or induce death, all of which can occur in conjunction with meth use. Vitamin D, for instance, has already been shown in numerous credible studies to halt flu infection while boosting immunity and proper hormone production. Other powerful flu deterrents include garlic, which is an amazing immune-boosting food (http://www.naturalnews.com/035462_garlic_immune_boosting_herbs.html); mushrooms, which have been shown to spur the production and activity of disease-fighting white blood cells (http://www.naturalnews.com/019194_flu_the_health.html); and elderberry, which has been used for many centuries as a medicinal tonic "against all infirmities what-so-ever," and the flu in particular. There simply is no need, in other words, to begin dabbling in powerful psychoactive drugs like meth, the primary components of which just so happen to already be used in pharmaceutical-based cold and flu medications. Instead, researchers would do better to continue investigating the many natural, safe flu remedies that provide only benefits and no harmful side effects.
