Another reason why we need guns for self defense: Mexican drug gangs begin assassinating prosecutors in Texas
by J. D. Heyes
(NaturalNews) In 2006 WorldNetDaily reported that Mexican military units affiliated with Mexican drug gangs were threatening American law enforcement personnel with incursions into the United States and even placing bounties on their heads as a means of intimidating them (www.wnd.com/2006/02/34627/0.)
At the time, many Americans no doubt had trouble wrapping their minds around the thought that drug cartels from Mexico would ever directly challenge federal, state and local police and law enforcement agents in the United States because, surely, they would never become powerful enough to be that brazen.
That was then. Fast-forward to the present day, in which Mexico has devolved into a virtual narco-state, and drug cartels - with billions of dollars and enough heavy weapons to challenge regular Army forces - have become brazen enough to target American prosecutors who get in their way.
Drug gangs and their associates now targeting U.S. prosecutors?
In late March, Texas District Attorney Mike and Cynthia McClelland were found shot to death in their home. The suspects, according to national security experts who spoke to Breitbart News, are Mexican drug cartels and their associates:
While the motive for the apparent and unprecedented assassinations is still unknown, authorities suspect Mexican drug cartels and their associates that are escalating and infiltrating major cities in the United States were behind the apparent executions.
As Breitbart News reported, some in the national security community believe the reported murders, especially since McClelland's wife was also gunned down, are bold and daring acts of escalation by various drug cartels and groups who may be associated with them.
Considering that Mexico-based cartels now have operatives in dozens of U.S. cities, according to The Associated Press, it comes as no surprise that they would begin importing the same tactics - intimidation and murder - to deal with U.S. officials who are working hard to interdict them and the activities they engage in.
Per Breitbart News:
A "national security expert who has spent several years in intelligence gathering operations around the Mexican drug cartels' criminal insurgency into the continental United States" commented to Breitbart News that, "this assassination of DA McClellend and his wife is meant to send a message: no one is safe, no one is beyond our reach. We will kill you and your loved ones. We are in control here."
Continuing, the expert said, "This is a significant point of escalation in the crisis. This type of high-profile targeting of public officials is a classic insurgent tactic. Its escalating use inside the U.S. shows a complete lack of fear of consequences and demonstrates the fundamental shift in the strategic landscape that has already occurred."
The mainstream media is focusing on white supremacist suspects as those responsible for the murder of the McClellands. But Breitbart examined that angle in more depth during an interview with Mike McClelland about two weeks before his alleged murder:
When Breitbart News interviewed McClelland two weeks before he was apparently murdered, he said he could not comment on whether "low-level Mexican cartels have had involvement with the Aryan Brotherhood in Texas regarding methamphetamine trafficking," or if it was "possible the Aryan Brotherhood is either acting as hitmen or paying prosecutors back."
The brotherhood is also suspected of perpetrating the Jan. 31 murder of another Kaufman County prosecutor, Mark Hasse.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry also hinted the cartels could be involved.
"We know the drug cartels are very, very active in our country now. It goes back ... to the whole issue of border security and the failure of the federal government to put the men and women, whether they are military or whether they're border patrol or whether working with the local law enforcement, expend the dollars necessary to secure the border with Mexico," he told Fox News April 3, adding that the border with Mexico is far less secure than it needs to be.
Open borders and gun control
The thing is, all of this insanity - which has been enabled, in part, by open-borders progressives on the Left - is occurring as agents of change work diligently to destroy our borders altogether while simultaneously disarming the American population in the face of a dangerous and growing threat. Hollywood could not script a better political thriller.
This is all the more reason to oppose a) any so-called "immigration reform" attempt that does not include a provision to militarize the U.S./Mexico border, something that is long overdue; and b) any new gun control measures, because the cold, hard fact is, the cartels are armed to the teeth. That is thanks in large part to the Obama administration's "Operation Fast and Furious," in which federal agencies allowed thousands of high-powered, semi-automatic rifles to flow to Mexican drug gangs so it could push for new gun control measures [http://www.naturalnews.com].
The deck is being increasingly stacked against the American citizen, and much of it is as a result of policies being pursued and enacted by our own government.
