Medical madness in America: Mothers, daughters team up for dual plastic surgeries as 'bonding' experience

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) Even though millions of Americans are without work and struggling just to keep food on the table, there is a growing segment of the wealthy female population that is lavishly indulging in expensive spa treatments, exotic "beauty" procedures, and plastic surgeries in order to keep themselves continually happy in the moment. And one particularly disturbing new trend, according to CBS 11 News in Dallas, Texas, involves mothers and daughters actually going in for plastic surgeries together, which these familial duos often claim is a meaningful bonding experience.

Jani Reyes and Tasha Sheckells are one such mother-daughter pair who claim to have gotten closer to one another as a result of getting cosmetic surgeries together. Since they already do many other life activities with each other, it was only natural, they claim, to begin going in for plastic surgery together as well. And since they both desire many of the same procedures, Reyes and Sheckells can provide mutual support for one another throughout the process, an experience they say they deeply cherish.

"I decided right away that was what I was going to do," recalls Reyes about the first time she went in for a plastic surgery consultation with her daughter. "And then she said, 'Well, I need a few things, too.'"

Daughters becoming 'girlfriends' of idol mothers with a knack for cosmetic surgery

Since that time, Reyes and Sheckells have apparently had numerous procedures done alongside one another by Dr. Jeff Adelglass, a cosmetic surgeon who gained nationwide attention after being featured on the mindless reality show Big Rich Texas, which just so happens to feature a handful of other mother-daughter duos who engage in similar indulgent behaviors. In fact, at least one of the mother-daughter pairs featured on this show has also visited Dr. Adelglass to have plastic surgeries performed at the same time.

"We see a lot of moms and daughters, as well as other family members and partners very, very often," explained Dr. Adelglass to CBS 11. "Seeing it on TV only strengthens that, but I think the desire has always been there," he added.

It used to be that mothers would teach their daughters virtuous activities and behaviors, which in the case of many of the women visiting Dr. Adelglass might include losing weight the natural way through diet and exercise. But today, it is apparently too troublesome and "boring" for many mothers to treat their daughters as daughters rather than girlfriends, which in turn is spawning a whole new generation of shallow women with no real character.

Such reckless vanity apparently exists in many places outside of Dallas as well, as a Men's Health survey from back in June found that Dallas only ranks fifth on its list of the "Top Cities for Vanity." Tampa, Florida, ranks in as the number one most vain city in America, followed by Plano, Texas; Atlanta, Georgia; and Las Vegas, Nevada. (http://www.menshealth.com/best-life/where-vanity-rules)
