Compressed air cars - can they really work for commuters?

by Kim Evans

(NaturalNews) By now, most thinking people know there's got to be a solution to the oil problem. Not only is oil a dirty fuel that pollutes the environment, it's also expensive and has been the cause of war or really the killing of other members of our species. Oil also threatens to destroy rain forests in South America and displace indigenous people, as the oil companies want to move in there. And that's not even mentioning the Gulf Oil spill which was the cause of untold numbers of animal deaths and the general poisoning of the population and Gulf waters. In short, oil has caused problem after problem and is a problem that needs a solution.

Compressed air cars are one solution to the problem and India's Tata Motors is coming out with them by end of the year. Tata has already unveiled a concept car with a speed of 50 miles per hour and a range of 80 miles. But these new cars, which will be minivans and available for under $13,000, will have top speeds of 65 miles per hour and can go about 180 miles before needing more air.

The speed is easily enough for most people's around town and light freeway needs. These cars can also be filled with compressed air for free at most service stations and in just a few minutes. Can you even imagine driving around for free these days?

As significant as the daily savings, the only thing that comes out of the exhaust of compressed air cars is cold air making them a completely environmentally friendly solution. As another significant bonus, there is no need to displace indigenous populations that inhabit rainforests, destroy rainforests, or kill what could now be millions of people on the other side of the world in order set up oil pipelines. The deaths for oil have really been tragic, even more so than what's been coming out of our pocket books.

The compressed air car concept has been around since the 1920s but insiders say that governments are a problem for getting the technology in the U.S. Shock, isn't it? The very same governments that create wars just to go in and steal other country's oil?

It would be nice to see compressed air burst that oil bubble.
