NYC budget cuts include closing of 20 fire stations, while millions of dollars in toxic fluoride keep flowing in the water supply

by Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) Following years of cuts to its police force, New York City is now choosing to cut the ranks of its fire department as well. CBS 2 in New York reports that Mayor Michael Bloomberg is planning to nix 20 different fire houses, including Engine 4 at the South Street Seaport which serves a dense area near Wall Street and Ground Zero -- and this is all taking place while NYC alone spends at least $9 million on fluoride chemicals for its water supplies, and at least $25 million on its overall water fluoridation program.

"We cannot afford the size police force, fire department, of [sic] any of these agencies if we have a $400 million deficit," said Bloomberg at a recent meeting, highlighting the fact that the $400 million in savings he proposed for the state budget did not pass. But why the mayor would suggest cutting basic, necessary services like police and fire before eliminating the toxic fluoride program is simply ludicrous.

Apparently Mayor Bloomberg is unaware of, or simply refused to acknowledge, the report issued by the New York State Department of Health (DoH) back in 1990 that condemns the fluoride chemicals used by NYC water departments as highly toxic (http://www.naturalnews.com/032127_fluoride_N...). Or maybe he missed Councilor Peter Vallone's bill that would end water fluoridation entirely in NYC (http://www.naturalnews.com/030933_fluoride_N...).

Either way, water fluoridation both in NYC city and throughout the entire state of New York is the elephant in the room, the glaring misnomer policy that is costing taxpayers countless millions every single year, while providing no legitimate health benefits. To every city and state that is struggling to balance its budget: before cutting off emergency services, why not consider getting rid of toxic fluoride first?
