Rejuvenate skin naturally with foods and essential oils

by Fleur Hupston

(NaturalNews) To rejuvenate means to stimulate or regenerate. Many people resort to toxic chemical peels, collagen injections and surgery to rejuvenate the skin and to appear less old and wrinkled. Diet is the best way to rejuvenate the skin, since the skin has the ability to rejuvenate from within. Essential oils and natural products can also help, especially in the long-term.

Palmarosa Essential Oil Recipe

Palmarosa, otherwise known as Indian geranium, has long been known to be a valuable oil in skin care. The oil hydrates dry skin conditions and rejuvenates wrinkled skin by promoting cellar regeneration. It is also useful for stress-related problems and is a wonderful oil for a facial massage. Palmarosa has a gentle, floral fragrance reminiscent of roses and geraniums.

Add 6 drops palmarosa, 3 drops rose and 3 drops frankincense oil to a small glass bottle. Add 5 drops of evening primrose oil and 1 tablespoon apricot kernel oil. Shake well and massage into the face before going to sleep.

Other useful herbal oils for the skin include those made from calendula (Calendula officinalis) or plantain (Plantago major). Aging skin will benefit from grape seed, coconut, olive and avocado oils.

Tips to rejuvenate the skin

Free radicals are linked to disease and aging. Lifestyle factors such as a poor diet, too much alcohol, and smoking can contribute to a build up of free radicals which can cause skin damage over time.

Stress is a factor that is often overlooked when it comes to aging skin because stress causes free radicals which may damage the skin. Managing stress will benefit overall health.

While sunshine is very good for the immune system including the skin, sunburn is not. Avoid damaging the skin by wearing long sleeves, hats and sunglasses in harsh climates.

Drink water several times a day to help the body flush out toxins and keep skin moisturized. Sleep and wake up on time so your body feels rested, and exercise regularly to keep skin youthful.

Rejuvenate the Skin with Foods

Rejuvenate the skin by eating the following foods regularly:

Vitamins A, C, B, E and minerals selenium, copper and zinc assist skin rejuvenation from inside.

Eat blueberries, pomegranates, acai, raspberries, cherries, apples and strawberries. Carrots contain vitamin A, an essential nutrient for skin care.

Eat nuts, pumpkin seeds, oily fish and dark chocolate.

Search on Natural News to find out more about superfoods and their effects on the skin and overall health.

Avoid harmful foods that will age the skin. Stay away from fried foods, processed dead foods, sugar and artificial sweeteners.
