Five Steps to Stay Inspired in 2009

by Alex Howard

(NaturalNews) As June approaches, you may be finding it increasingly difficult to maintain the enthusiasm to transform your health and wellbeing that you had on New Year's Day. Staying motivated and inspired on the healing journey isn't always easy, but is absolutely essential to enjoy the optimum health you desire. If you suffer from chronic fatigue or another compromising illness, it is especially vital to keep motivated even on those days when it feels like we aren't moving forwards and nothing is working. Here are five tips to help you stay on track over the coming year.

1.Have a clear plan
Having a really clear action plan of what you need to be doing and when, with a clear system for reviewing progress and adjusting things, is essential. Especially on those days where we feel like things aren't moving forwards, having a plan to fall back on and that we believe in means we can trust that things will turn around.

2.A reason to change
Of course when we are ill we want things to change. However, staying focused on the things we want to do when we have recovered and reminding ourselves of how different life will feel is a lot more powerful than just hating where we are. The pain of where we are will motivate us only so far, but the excitement of where we will be is much more powerful. If we have been ill for a long time, it's sometimes hard to remember what it feels like to be well, but visualization and other practices to help us get in touch with these feelings can make a real difference.

3.Inspirational stories
Hearing other people's stories of recovery and change can be a huge inspiration. Surrounding yourself with others that have been their and turned things around really helps to connect with the transformative spirit in yourself. You may find strength from reading about those who have overcome the odds in life generally, be it with other health issues, in business, physical challenges and so on.

4.A strong support network
Having the support of family and friends can make a massive difference, especially on days when you are losing faith. If you are feeling that family and friends are able to understand your situation, it may be useful to find a support group.

5. Letting go and allowing things to happen
Some days, the best thing you can do is give up, let go, and stop trying to change things. Perhaps you need to take time to veg out or soak in the bath and generally relax. Sometimes allowing ourselves just to give into our feelings is the best way through them. You may find that your enthusiasm returns the next day.

And, remember, above all else, inspiration is something you can do, something to get. Don't just wait for it to hit you!
