Traditional Chinese Medicine: The Sexual Tonic Herbs

by Christopher Gussa

(NaturalNews) Many of the powerful Chinese Herbal Tonics that promote sexual energy have the wonderful "side effect" of promoting radiant health and longevity also. Some people may say, "Wow! There is a God and He loves me!" (And they would be right). One would almost feel guilty in wanting more sexual pleasure and then getting long life and radiant health along with it.

Deeply rooted in us is what TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) calls The Three Treasures, see http://plantcures.com/big3.html . One of these treasures is our reproductive power with all its "delightful encouragements" for us to be fruitful and multiply. This is the most important treasure called our Jing or Essence. The water element carries this "Jing" or essence of life. The Jing is the most important pattern in our bodies, carrying with it our growth development and our reproductive energies.

The Classic TCM herbal formulas to enrich sexual energy (such as "Blissful Jing" and many others) contain the herbs in the class of Kidney Yang Jing Tonics, Blood Moving herbs, Chi Tonics and Kidney Yin Tonics. In this way, the body's jing (Which holds our sexual appetite) is strongly amplified and supported. Let's take a look at these herb groups:

The Kidney Yang tonic herbs

* Suo Yang (Yang Locker ) Latin: Cynomorium

* Yin Yang Huo (Sexual Goat Plant) Latin: Herba Epimedii

* Ba Ji Tian (Morinda Root) Latin: Morindae Officinalis, Radix

These herbs stimulate the fire of the kidneys to produce a strong sexual drive. These tonics are a known group of true aphrodisiacs and are extremely effective. They promote good circulation in the sex organs and are known for their ability to increase semen in men and to increase sexual fluids in women by warming the female genitals, increasing sensitivity. They also nourish and calm the heart and nervous system producing a feeling of relaxation and freedom.

The Kidney Yin Jing tonics herbs

* Gou Qi Zi (Wolfberry) Latin: Fructus Lycii

* Tian Men Dong (Wild Asparagus Root) Latin: Asparagi Radix /Tuber

* Tu Si Zi (Cuscuta) Latin: Cuscutae, Semen. (This herb builds both Yin and Yang)

These herbs are nourishing, nurturing and moistening to the tissues and fluids and are used together with blood tonics, supporting each other's function. If the kidney Yin is abundant then so is the sexual energy. Some of these herbs are slightly diuretic and set off a "tingling" flow of Jing through the system lubricating and exciting the female genitalia. A similar diuretic pattern (together with the blood movers) helps keep the male organ hard.

The Chi Tonic Herbs, Chi activating herbs and Blood Moving herbs

* Chi Tonic: Ren Shen (Panax Ginseng)

* Chi Activating Herbs: Cyperus and Citrus Peel

* Blood Moving Herbs: Huai Niu Xi Latin: Achyranthes Bidentatae, Radix

In short, when you bring the kidney yin and yang up to the max and support it with chi and blood moving tonics and blend all these herbs with specific male or female jing-essence herbs, you have built a stronger jing channel which not only gives us more sexual energy, pleasure and desire but more of all the vital essences of life.

The story of how the sexual tonic formulas like Blissful Jing came about through the ages explains a lot. It was not at all from a "spirit of lust" that these tonics were discovered and created but from an honest attempt by the herbal doctors at pure health for the patient:

Through the centuries Chinese herbal doctors would occasionally see a patient with the "Rare Excess of Both Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang". Many of these patients would simply "live for sex" (we have a lot of colorful names for these people today). The Chinese Doctors found this overindulgence in "affairs of the bedroom" to be un-healthy, injuring the Jing, and resulting in lumbago, dizziness and general weakness of vitality.

One of the doctor's choices would be to encourage the patient to have less sex (never a popular request). Besides, to reduce both the yin and yang of the jing could be harmful and there are really no safe herbs to do this (there are only herbs to bring up the yin or yang of the kidneys to correct the deficiency). So over the centuries many doctors would have to find a way to re-harmonize the patient (along with their spouses) by building up the chi, blood flow, and fluid control of the jing so he or she (along with their spouses that were often lacking) could sustain a high amount of sexual activity. This is how and why the Sexual Tonic Formulas like Blissful Jing were born.

They also discovered that an enriched sex life between couples brought more harmony and happiness along with good health now that they could sustain it. Many of those who took these tonics also achieved a very long life, good eyesight and healthy beautiful skin through their old age.

Longevity was always very prized by the Chinese and with the "side effect" of beautiful skin, good eyesight and strong sex energy, these tonics were much in demand by the wealthy. The emperors (many with 30-50 wives), governors, and high society paid a large price for these tonics who's formulas were kept secret by the enterprising herbal doctors.

However, formulas like these are now available world wide and priced very reasonably. We only have to seek and ask. But be careful! The same formulas for sexual energy have a definite effect on raising the fertility aspects of males and females. However, this too is a sign of a healthy, happy and blissful jing. In fact, hmmm... I almost forgot, reproducing is really what it is all about, remember?

Chris Gussa: "Plant Cures is currently working with over 9,000 medicinal plants to bring about healing through the true science of combining the whole energies of whole plants. A plants energy is from its whole part. (flowers, fruit, leaves, stems, roots etc) While the "science" of seeing some of the isolated molecular constituents in food and herbs can be interesting at times, there is no "one magic ingredient" in any plant. (You would think it would be science trying to tell you this type of logic, instead of me) But no! They would rather play this childish game of trying to find the "Pot of gold" in a plant so they can synthesize it and dazzle the FDA with a "New Drug" that will most likely cause the usual death and destruction!
