Ocean Water – An Untapped, Bountiful Energy Source

by Sarah Aitken

(NaturalNews) A cancer patient has found some interesting properties of seawater that could provide an abundant, cheap source of energy.

It was an accidental discovery, as reported in a CBS news story. John Kanzius, a leukemia patient, was trying to desalinate seawater using a radio-frequency generator. He had developed this radio-frequency generator to treat cancer.

Hydrogen is released from the seawater because the radio frequencies weaken the bonds between the elements, oxygen and hydrogen - it is hypothesized. Rustum Roy, a Penn State University chemist, has duplicated these finding. The discovery is "the most remarkable in water science in 100 years," Roy said.

Water covers more than seventy percent of the globe, and ninety seven percent of that can be found in the ocean. This is an abundant and cheap source of potential energy that could be made available to nearly everyone on the globe. Since hydrogen can be heated to 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit (1,650 degrees Celsius), this technology could be used to provide hydrogen to fuel hydrogen powered cars, or heavy machinery. The safety and feasibility of the hydrogen-powered car has been debated due to the explosive nature of gaseous hydrogen, or the extreme cold temperatures required to store liquid hydrogen. Storing hydrogen in a tank inside of a car could lead to potential disasters, and fuelling stations that dispense hydrogen would have the same risks. A leak of hydrogen is extremely dangerous, much more dangerous than spilling a little gas at the pump. Using seawater and converting it using the radio-frequency generator into hydrogen would significantly reduce the risk of monumental accidents.
