McDonald's critics cry foul after chain reveals alarming information about its french fries' trans fat content
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
The Common Voice rants about McDonald's recent "discovery" that its fries contain much more trans fat than previously thought, a finding that coincided with the restaurant chain's decision to post its foods' nutritional content on packaging.
The world's largest restaurant chain said Wednesday its fries contain a third more trans fats than it previously knew, citing results of a new testing method it began using in December.
That means the level of potentially artery-clogging trans fat in a portion of large fries is eight grams, up from six, with total fat increasing to 30 grams from 25.
Gosh, do you think that this company JUST found out about the 1/3 extra fat in the fries?
OR are they just telling us about it because they have to now that their "voluntary nutrition on the wrapper" campaign is launching?
Isn't this the same company who KNEW that their very high brewing temperatures for coffee was dangerous and burned people but they choose to keep it high because their profits from it proved that the consumer liked their hot coffee?
McDonalds coffee was not only hot, it was scalding -- capable of almost instantaneous destruction of skin, flesh and muscle.
Stella Liebeck of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was in the passenger seat of her grandson's car when she was severely burned by McDonalds' coffee in February 1992.
Liebeck placed the cup between her knees and attempted to remove the plastic lid from the cup.
A vascular surgeon determined that Liebeck suffered full thickness burns (or third-degree burns) over 6 percent of her body, including her inner thighs, perineum, buttocks, and genital and groin areas.
She was hospitalized for eight days, during which time she underwent skin grafting.
Liebeck, who also underwent debridement treatments, sought to settle her claim for $20,000, but McDonalds refused.
Isn't it plausible that McDonald's knew about the fat but decided that it was worth it NOT to declare it, since their daily profit from French Fry sales was so great?
