Australian company invents device to deal with generator power switch complications

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Powercorp, based in Darwin, Australia, has developed a device that allows companies to combine alternative forms of energy, including solar and wind, with backup generators.

A Northern Territory company appears to have solved the problem of combining solar or wind power systems with their back-up generators. The change from one to another can cause power surges and spikes, which can damage computers and other equipment. Darwin-based Powercorp has invented, and sold to Portugal's Azores Islands, a system to fix the problem. Will Galton, from Powercorp, says when the device detects low power, it keeps the electricity running, and can then switch, if necessary, to the back-up system. "When clouds come over, within the 15 second time frame, it can put real energy into the system, and then if it needs more energy, if the cloud is staying around a bit longer, then the system integrates with the diesel generators and turns them on line," he said.
