Kablon Farms Food Corp., located in South Cotabato, Philippines, which manufactures organic food concentrates, has managed to make its product more accessible to the general public by offering it in foil or doy packs.

A family-owned corporation in South Cotabato that has been producing processed organic fruit concentrates in bottles has added a new marketing feature: the concentrates now come in foil or doy packs to make them more affordable. Ernesto Pantua, Jr., Kablon Farms Food C orp. processing manager, said they tapped the expertise of San Miguel Corporation. The company produces concentrates of passion fruit, guyabano-clamansi, passion fruit-guyabano, and passion fruit-calamansi. "We recently disposed to the market doy-packed fruit concentrates in a bid to increase sales in the years to come. This type of packaging makes the product more accessible to the general public's buying power," he said. With the doy pack, consumers could now avail of passion fruit-based fruit concentrates at only P25 to 27.50 apiece. Kablon's doy pack of 200 milliliter is enough to make a liter of refreshing juice drink. Before, buyers had to shell out as much as P75 for a 500 ml bottled fruit juice concentrates, he said. Being handy and affordable, the doy-packed fruit concentrates are ideal for picnickers or backpackers. The bottled concentrates, are still being marketed. Pantua said the raw fruit materials are all sourced at their sprawling 80-hectare farm in Barangay Kablon, Tupi town. Kablon's processed products, manufactured without modern machines, have become one of the favorite pasalubong (gifts) of lo cal overseas Filipino workers back to their workplaces. Janet Pantua, Kablon's administrative officer, said despite the lack of modern processing equipment, their products' shelf-lives could last from six months to a year. "We don't use artificial preservatives for these processed products. Moreover, these products are not manufactured from rotten fruits but fresh ones in excess of the demands of our fresh fruits buyers," she said.
