Kodak announces first dual-lens camera

The new V570 digital camera has an optical zoom as well as a wide angle lens. The camera is able to shoot 5-megapixel shots, and has an "ultra-wide view" mode. The V570 is less than an inch thick and has a 2.5-inch LCD.
Eastman Kodak announced Tuesday that its new V570 digital camera, with both an optical zoom and a wide angle lens, will be available this month for $400.
Kodak is billing the V570 as the world's first dual-lens camera.
The V570, capable of 5-megapixel shots, will be on display this week at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, according to a company news release.
The V570 has a 39-millimeter to 120-mm optical zoom and a 23-mm wide angle lens, part of its Retina Dual Lens technology.
Using what it calls the "ultra-wide view" in panorama scene mode, the V570 will automatically compile a 180-degree photo by combining three separate ones, Kodak says.
It ships with a docking station that can be used to recharge the camera's battery.
The camera has 32MB of internal memory and has a SD (secure digital) card slot for additional memory, Kodak says.
The product ships with Kodak's EasyShare software for both Microsoft's Windows and Apple Computer's Mac OS.
The V570 is less than an inch thick, and photos are viewable through a 2.5 inch LCD.
The V570 will also record TV-quality video at up to 30 frames per second using MPEG-4 compression, Kodak says.
