MICROSOFT SAYS it is going to release some new software for the Xbox 360 within the next six months. It will be used to send and receive text messages within the existing MSN mobile phone network. So even when your mates are down at the pub, you can still brag about the n00bs you're pwning in Call of Duty 2. Apparently, there will be no fee for this service. Is this what they really mean by "next-gen"? Not just better graphics and faster processors, but endless connections to other devices and services? We've come a long way since the power glove.
