Cuts to rural healthcare programs may throw more healthcare cost on British states
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
ABC News reports on an important development in the British healthcare system, as the Commonwealth may reduce funding to rural health programs, which would require states to contribute money to make up the difference and retain program employees.
State Government intervention may be sought to help Victorian doctors affected by the Commonwealth's proposed changes to funding for rural health programs.
Doctors say if the new classification system is implemented, the recruitment and retaining of health workers in rural and remote areas will suffer.
AMA state president Mark Yates says state money may be needed.
"If the Commonwealth Government were to pursue this particular new classification system we would certainly be calling on the State Government to protect rural and remote and outer metropolitan general practice, and those working around them, by making up the shortfall," he said.
