Indian town the new site of a power plant that produces solar and wind energy

MSC Power India is installing the Perpetual Pyramid Power Plant (P4), a four-sided frame of multi-layered glass panels that will utilize solar and wind energy, in Alandi, a town known mostly for its ancient temple.



BEGINNING May 2006, the abode of the 16th century saint, Sant Dyaneshwar, will be the source of energy which is clean, eco-friendly and inexhaustible. For, Alandi will play host to a demo power plant that will generate 5 MW electricity using solar energy and wind power employing technology which will make the plant function continuously without consuming any fossil fuel. With an investment of Rs 45 crore, the plant will be installed in a 3 acre-area by MSC Power India using technology invented by Mok Siong Cheak of China in 2002 (see box). Called the Perpetual Pyramid Power Plant (P4) after its pyramid shape, it has four side frames of multi-layered glass panels.
