Zero Emission Fuel Cell Bus debuts in Palm Springs

SunLine Transit Agency revealed its hydrogen-fueled hybrid electric fuel cell bus at the latest fuel cell seminar held in Palm Springs.
SunLine Transit Agency unveiled its new Zero Emission Fuel Cell Bus today -- a hydrogen-fueled hybrid electric fuel cell bus, the most advanced fuel cell technology currently available -- at the 2005 Fuel Cell Seminar held in Palm Springs at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
The Fuel Cell Bus was the first vehicle presented during the Fuel Cell Seminar's "Ride & Drive" showcase segment.
SunLine was chosen to receive one of these new buses because of its reputation in the fuel cell industry and for use in the hot, desert climate.
The fuel cell was designed by UTC Power of South Windsor, CT.
The bus was shipped to the United States in January 2005 and the electrical drive system and fuel cell were integrated into the chassis by ISE Corporation of Poway, CA.
The Van Hool A330 Fuel Cell Bus chassis is a standard 40-foot long U.S. transit bus size, but features a European-style design.
The graphic design for the outside of the bus features cool blues and greens and the image of a water droplet representing the end product of the hydrogen fuel cell process -- water vapor.
