Make-a-wish foundation defrauded by its finance director

Joseph Garrison, former finance director of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Georgia and Alabama, admitted in court that he defrauded the company of $92,137.
In August 2004, Garrison began stealing Make-A-Wish money by issuing checks in the names of former "wish families" and then endorsing the checks and depositing them into his own bank account, Assistant U.S. Attorney Bjay Pak said.
Early this year, an in-house Make-A-Wish investigator confronted Garrison about the fraud, and Garrison admitted to wrongdoing.
"We remain focused on our mission and granting the wishes of the children and soliciting donors to continue to support our mission," said White, who witnessed Garrison's guilty plea.
U.S. District Judge Orinda Evans, who will sentence Garrison later, said she would order him to reimburse Make-A-Wish for all the money he stole.
