Scottish asthma group reaches out to encourage young asthmatics to exercise

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

The new Asthma UK Scotland campaign "Out there and active" is designed to encourage children, perhaps discouraged by taunting from others, to engage in physical exercise.

PUPILS with asthma in Edinburgh and the Lothians are being urged to enjoy the benefits of exercise as part of new Asthma UK Scotland campaign "Out there and active". Marjory Burns, executive director of Asthma UK Scotland, said: "One in seven parents in Scotland believes that the attitude of other people towards their child's asthma can stop them from taking part in exercise and sport. "Yet, provided children have their asthma under control, they can enjoy a healthier lifestyle, putting paid to the popular myth that children with asthma can't join in PE lessons and sport." Edinburgh-based European judo medallist and Olympic hopeful Euan Burton, 26, said: "I've had asthma all my life, but I was determined not to let it stand in the way of what I wanted to do."
