Fox News refuses to air ad that was critical of latest Supreme Court nominee
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Fox News has stirred new controversy by refusing to air an advertisement that offered criticism of Supreme Court nominee Samuel Alito, claiming its refusal was based on the fact that the ad contains a factual error, though leftists believe that the channel's political leanings had more to do with its decision to withhold the ad.
Groups opposed to Samuel Alito are calling Fox News' refusal to air an aid critical of the Supreme Court nominee a reflection of the political right's effort to shield him.
Fox News says its refusal to air the ad stems from their lawyers' decision that the spot is factually incorrect, reports The Associated Press.
The ad refers to a document Alito wrote in 1985, that quotes him as saying "the Constitution does not protect a right to an abortion."
It also says that as an appellate court judge, Alito "ruled to make it easier for corporations to discriminate ...
even voted to approve strip search of a 10-year-old girl."
"It's not about ideology, it's about quality and honesty," said Irena Briganti, a Fox News spokeswoman.
She said Fox had also refused to run an ad by Swift Boat Veterans for Truth that called Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry a traitor.
A spokesman for the groups, Jim Jordan, says, "The entire right wing establishment, from Pat Robertson to Jerry Falwell to Fox News, has circled the wagons around Sam Alito."
