Tivoli Audio on Tuesday announced it is shipping the iSongBook, a new portal speaker system for Apple's iPods.
The iSongBook costs US$329.99 and is designed to work with all dock connector-equipped iPods, according to Tivoli.
First announced in July, the iSongBook features an integrated AM/FM tuner and a 9K/10K switch for AM reception outside North America.
It features a telescoping FM antenna and the ability to store 5 AM and 5 FM radio presets.
It also includes a backlit blue LCD display and digital clock that can operate as an alarm.
The iSongBook includes a wireless credit card-style remote control that can operate either the iSongBook or the iPod, when docked.
A flip-down dock charges the iPod while it plays --- it's the "universal docking station" that supports the iPod nano and new slim fifth-generation iPod as well.
It also works with the iPod mini, iPod photo and other dock connector-equipped model; Tivoli includes seven dock adapters to assure a snug fit.
The iSongBook features an auxiliary input and stere headphone output, detachable second speaker, 6-foot audio cable with rewind mechanism and an optional carry bag.
The iSongBook operates on AA alkaline or NiMH/NiCad rechargeable batteries, and includes an AC adapter.
