Maxtor's new data drive provides maximum security

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Maxtor's new OneTouch III Turbo Edition external storage solution offers users a safe, secure place to store their data.

Okay, I'll admit it...I actually remember the 1950s and 60s--and not just from watching old movies, either. The banks of my youth were granite-and-marble fortifications inspired by the memories of Bonnie and Clyde, John Dillinger, and Machine Gun Kelly. I always felt that my hard-earned cash would be safe in such a place, so you can imagine why I like the rugged, rock-solid look of Maxtor's new OneTouch III Turbo Edition external storage solution. This is a drive that just looks like a safe place to bank your data. By the time you read this, you should be able to get Maxtor's word on the new model. The drive will be available in December in two capacity points: 600 gigabytes and 1 terabyte. The OneTouch III comes in a user-configurable RAID, with two built-in hard drives and a choice of either RAID 0 striping for quick performance or RAID 1 mirroring for fault tolerance. Of course, employing the mirroring will cut the usable capacities to 300GB and 500GB. The list prices will be about $900 for the 1TB model and $550 for the 600GB unit. Maxtor says the OneTouch III doesn't just look tough. The case is designed with a self-adjusting cooling system, shock protection inside and out, and an acoustic treatment designed to keep its noise level down. The drive should be able to stand up to frequent moves, and it will include password security and syncing. In addition to the one-touch push-button backup feature the drive will also provide a system rollback feature for PC users. As with any effective drive of its type, you will be able to automate your backups. The One Touch III Turbo Edition will be compatible with both PCs (Windows XP and 2000) and Macs (OS X 10.2.8 and higher).
