Surplus natural gas stockpile results in falling prices

A U.S. government report showed that natural gas stockpiles exceeded all expectations, and as a result, the price of gas fell 20.8 cents.
Natural-gas prices fell as much as 5 per cent Thursday after a U.S. government report showed stockpiles rose by a greater-than-expected amount last week.
Natural gas for November delivery dropped 20.8 cents (U.S.) or 1.5 per cent to close at $13.832 per million British thermal unit on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
It traded as low as $13.30 earlier in the session, the lowest intraday level since Monday.
It has fallen about 10 per cent from its Oct. 5 record of $14.75.
