Philippines gas stations will offer coco-biodiesel
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo praised the Flying V corporation for being the first to offer coco-biodiesel, a product she predicts will boost her country's economy.
"BESIDES decreasing imported fuel dependency by three percent, with the use of coco-fuel as an alternative diesel fuel, we also create more jobs and income for coconut farmers and improve air quality."
This is according to one of the featured articles of the new Flying V quarterly newsletter quoting President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in one of her well-defined endorsements of the new technology.
The coco-methyl ester (CME) or coco-biodiesel, according to the bio-fuel bulletin, is now also the subject of two House Bills (HB) namely HB 4341 or "An act requiring the pre-blend of locally-produced methyl ester into diesel fuel to promote clean air and boost resource development for renewable fuels to reduce import dependence, open a new export revenue and provide fuel security for the country in times of global fuel shortage."
The bill is authored by Representative Monico Puentevella of Bacolod City.
While the consolidated bill on ethanol is "an act to mandate the use of bioethanol or ethyl alcohol as a transport fuel, establishing for the purpose the National Bioethanol Program, appropriating funds therefore, and other purposes."
The proposed law is a consolidated bill introduced by Congressmen Miguel Zubiri, Alfredo Maraon III, Jacinto Paras, Ignacio Arroyo, and Monico Puentevella.
Arroyo had recently lauded Flying V for offering the first pre-blended CME diesel in its gasoline stations, starting with Baguio City and Metro Manila last month.
Also according to the latest bulletin "transport groups have expressed strong support to the use of CME or coco biodiesel to the transport sector recognizing its importance to the growth of the Philippine economy."
Among those that supported the Flying V products are Pinagkaisang Samahan ng mga Trusper at Operator Nationwide (Piston) and the Katipunan ng mga Kooperatibang Pangsasakyan ng Pilipinas (KKPPI).
