Canadian company recalls contaminated artificial tears

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Health Canada reports that CIBA Vision Canada Inc. is recalling its Genteal Artificial Tears because of suspicions that the product may be contaminated with bacteria.

The company that distributes Genteal Artificial Tears is recalling a batch of the product because of possible contamination with bacteria, Health Canada said yesterday. "Use of eye drops contaminated with bacteria may cause serious eye infection," a Health Canada advisory says. The affected 25-millilitre bottles are marked Lot 51436 and have an expiry date of 2008-08. The product is made by CIBA Vision Canada Inc. The drug identification number (DIN) for this product is 02231289. If consumers have bottles that match the recalled lot number, they should immediately stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase.
