by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

On July 14, 2005, NEDO announced that it had selected 388 new joint researchers for the FY2005, "Field Test Project on New Photovoltaic Power Generation Technology," following a public solicitation held from March 28 to May 16. Power generation capacity will total 17,104kW.

In this scheme, after NEDO and a joint researcher conclude a joint research contract, photovoltaic (PV) field tests, including system installation, will be carried out. NEDO and the joint researcher share 50% of the costs. The project period is fixed for either 5 or 6 years.

Through the experimental installation and long-term demonstration of PV power generation systems that use new technologies, the aim of the project is to prove the systems effectiveness, raise performance levels and reduce costs in an effort to further disseminate PV systems. In addition, various data will be collected, analyzed and published with the objective of encouraging governmental organizations and business operators to install medium-scale PV power systems.
