Alternative energy sources found right outside your door
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
America's dependence on foreign oil has been detrimental to our quests to find alternative energy sources in our own country.
The human attempts to capture solar energy have gained and lost enthusiasm with the rise and fall of energy costs as well as the political issues surrounding dependence on foreign oil, the NIMBY syndrome (Not In My Back Yard) which fights the locating of needed energy plants, and even terrorism.
It is usually collected in panels that can be installed on south facing rooftops or open fields.
Homes with solar panels can produce a large percentage of their energy needs but still require back-up systems.
New Jersey's Clean Energy Program offers rebates to consumers of up to 70 percent of the cost of installation based on the size of the system installed.

Efforts to establish solar power within the agricultural community crank up the impact significantly.
Ronny Lee, the owner and operator of Lee Turkey Farm in East Windsor, N.J., has such a barn.
Lee was at a dinner meeting and overheard a conversation about Sun Farm Network's program to install larger solar collection systems on appropriate buildings at no cost to the farmer.
Ronny Lee was the first farmer to install a Sun Farm Network System in the summer of 2004.
The way it works is that the farmer continues to pay for the electricity needs of his farm operation, but it is paid to Sun Farm Network at a guaranteed discounted rate.
The excess energy flows out over power lines to be used to lighten the load on strained energy supplies, thus creating an energy "credit" that gets used up on the farm once the sun goes down.
Currently that is five cents per unit, but they are charging consumers approximately 16 cents per unit.
