Fuel cell vehicles, fuel supplies to be demonstrated in New York

GM and Shell have announced plans to bring a fuel cell fleet of vehicles to New York as part of a demonstration project with the Department of Energy. GM will provide around 40 minivans and SUVs that use fuel cells for power. Shell Oil will provide the refueling operation. This is a large-scale demonstration project; previous demonstrations have involved a handful of vehicles.

This is part of a larger agreement with the US DOE for hydrogen fuel cell demonstrations and testing. GM will provide approximately 40 fuel cell-powered minivans and fuel cell-powered SUVs to the state of New York and Shell Oil will develop hydrogen refueling capabilities.
