Biggest ever Czech anti-terrorism exercises simulate response programs

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Taking initiatives that the U.S. should have undergone, the Czech Republic is simulating a terrorist attack in hopes of finding holes in response units preemptively.

The exercise should not affect the daily life of ordinary citizens very much. Rescuers will come to the rescue after simulated bomb explosions in the subway station at Namesti Republiky square in downtown Prague and at the train station in Kralupy nad Vltavou. They will also defuse explosives at the train and bus stations in Prague's Holesovice district and arrest a person suspected of planting explosives in a bus. Firefighter director Miroslav Stepan told journalists preparations for the exercise had been under way for a month and the exercise should resemble reality as much as possible. The exercise is scheduled to begin on Thursday at 01:00 a.m. at Namesti Republiky square and in the Holesovice district. The exercise in Kralupy nad Vltavou should start about an hour later. The exercise should be over by roughly 06:00 a.m. Prague's subway and the Holesovice train station are normally closed at the time that the exercise will take place. The train station in Kralupy nad Vltavou will be closed for the event. Streets surrounding Namesti Republiky square and Masarykovo nadrazi train station in downtown Prague will be sealed off. Tram services between Revolucni street, Masarykovo nadrazi and Florenc will be partially restricted. The entire exercise will cost roughly two million crowns. The exact figure will only be known after the exercise is completed. Over 400 rescuers will take part in Prague and over 300 in central Bohemia. There will be almost 200 stuntmen in the Namesti Republiky subway station and a similar number in central Bohemia. Firefighters from other regions will also participate in the exercise in Kralupy nad Vltavou.
