Soy, dietary supplements and phytochemicals are three major ingredients of the "The Gold Coast Diet" authored by Ivy and Andrew Larson.
"The Gold Coast Cure," by Ivy and Andrew Larson, has sold about 50,000 copies since its release this summer.
1. Avoid foods with refined (or enriched) flour or sugar.
2. Don't eat foods with trans fat (anything listed as being "partially hydrogenated" or "hydrogenated" such as margarine, vegetable shortening, etc.)
3. Avoid empty carbs (white flour products such as bread, bagels, pretzels and white pasta) while consuming nutrient-rich carbs (whole wheat and whole grain products, oatmeal, potatoes, brown rice, beans, fruits and vegetables).
4. Limit saturated fat (high-fat dairy foods, fatty meats and some processed food).
5. Eat more essential fats (fish, shellfish, walnuts, expeller-pressed canola oil, flaxseeds, flax oil and extra virgin olive oil) and avoid processed oils (vegetable and corn oil).
6. Eat more fiber-enriched foods (whole grain products, beans, brown rice, potatoes, fruits and vegetables).
7. Eat more whole plant-based foods for their micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and phytochemicals).
8. Include soy in your diet (the only vegetarian source of complete protein).
9. Use vitamin supplements (multivitamins, calcium, vitamins C, D and E) and other supplements (Gamma Linolenic Acid and fish oil).
