Doctor attempts to popularize acupuncture in India

Dr A L Agarwal, president of the Acupuncture Foundation of India, has been promoting awareness of the alternative treatment's various applications in an effort to compel the Indian government to recognize the practice.



Dr A L Agarwal, president of the Acupunture Foundation of India, said while addressing a press conference in the city today that acupuncture requires acceptance by doctors and patients. Dr Agarwal said that the government should encourage practitioners of this therapy for further research so that this science could bear more benefits for humanity. He said that in many western countries acupunture is a recognised form of medicine wheras in our country this science is yet to be popularised. He said that our research shows that acupunture originated in our country and travelled to South-Eastern Asian countries and now China is known as the most popular place for this therapy. Others who also addressed the conference included Dr Jay Kumar Deekshi and Dr S K Punia.Both of them talked about the benefits of this therapy.
