Researchers believe daffodils hold the key to fighting memory loss

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Cardiff University researchers believe that galanthamine, a chemical found in daffodils, can help prevent memory loss and aid people at the onset of Alzheimer's.

A species of the Welsh national flower contains galanthamine. It can fight memory loss, say Cardiff University researchers who now want huge daffodil farms set up in the Black Mountains. Although people have died from eating the bulbs in mistake for onions, marketing staff insist: "The benefits will be extensive for the ageing population." Meanwhile, a more-convential way of combating the onset of the dementia that affects one in 20 people over 65 may lie in a diet high in fat and low in carbohydrates, a report in Nutrition and Metabolism revealed yesterday. US scientists used mice engineered to suffer from Alzheimer's to show that, contrary to previous studies, fat curbs the disease.
