African health minister encourages girls to wait on marriage

At the Visco Virginia Fistula (VVF) patients program at the Princess Christian Maternity Home in Freetown, Health and Sanitation Minister Mrs. Alberta Thomas spoke to a group of young women, urging them to wait until they were older to seek out marriage.
Health and Sanitation Minister, Mrs. Alberta Thomas says girls should desist from early marriage so as to enable them maintain safe reproductive health.
Making her contribution at the Visco Virginia Fistula (VVF) patients program at the Princess Christian Maternity Home in Freetown recently, Minister Thomas said women suffer because of their bad attitude.
She expressed satisfaction over the VVF program in Sierra Leone.
In his contribution, the VVF consultant, Dr. Ibrahim Thollie said the program was very useful because "it brings lots and lots of good things to the patients, immediate relations and friends".
Dr. Thollie said because of the successful operations carried out on patients, relatives and the public would no longer forsake them.
Dr. Thollie the program was sponsored by the West African Fistula Foundation and Dr. Maggi (a philanthropist).
About thirty VVF patients were discharged recently and given gifts by Health and Sanitation Minister, Mrs.Alberta Thomas.
