Patatas Chef, a Spanish company, is now marketing a vending machine that deep fries french fries at the push of a button. Is this an invention the world really needs right now?
No sooner have soda pop vending machines been banned in schools in California and other jurisdictions than the next challenge appears.
Spanish company Patatas Chef, S.L., has developed a free-standing vending machine that deep fries french fries on demand.
The machine can vend muliple sizes and automatically add a little cup of ketchup or mayonnaise.
The fry oil smell is filtered out with a smoke vacuum and filtration system.
American company Tasty Fries, Inc., is hot on their tail.
Tasty Fries installed their first patented french fry vending machine in the lobby of the Bellevue Hospital Center in New York in April, conveniently located near to Bellevue's Level-I trauma center in case any customer experiences an acute cardiac event while consuming the fries.
Tasty Fries vending machines dispense the fries within a minute and a half of inserting coins.
The H.J. Heinz Company offers Ore-Ida branded french fry vending machines, but they use a hot air process rather than actual oil frying.
Tasty Fries, Inc., emphasizes that they use cholesterol-free frying oil.
However, it's not clear whether the oil contains partially hydrogenated vegetable shortening, which can be cholesterol-free, yet contain heart-clogging trans fat.
