Computer program may make fitting dentures easier

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

A new computer program uses three dimensional scans of a person's mouth, gums and jawbone to generate a template that helps dentists know exactly where to position dental implants in a patient's mouth, with less invasive surgery

It could be the answer for the thousands of you who will one day have to wear dentures. Patients can now walk in off the street and after a scan, have a new set of teeth fitted in just an hour. The new quick implants are made using a new state-of-the-art computer program. Dental surgeons say the first step is to take a three-dimensional scan of the mouth, gum, and jawbone. From that, a special template is constructed, virtually sure to ensure a perfect fit. Instead of very invasive surgery that causes swelling and bleeding, this technique limits cutting by using a mold for the precise placing of the new teeth. "The major advantage is minimally invasive surgery," says Dental Surgeon Dr. Andrew Dawood. "We can put our fixtures precisely into the positions that we've predetermined on our scan with minimal impact on the patient, minimal bleeding, minimal incisions with nearly no swelling, and nearly no bleeding." For upper dentures alone, the procedure will cost you nearly $22,000.
