by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Enid Hohn, a registered dietician, is pushing for healthy foods in public schools throughout California, and has made progress in getting some schools to provide more fruits and vegetables.
Enid Hohn, Vista Unified's director of child nutrition services, will tout the district's food program again tomorrow -- this time in Sacramento, where she has been invited to a governor's summit to tackle the issue of obesity.

The registered dietitian in charge of the Vista Unified School District's food program has been invited to a governor's summit on improving Californians' health.
Hohn, a registered dietitian, is getting high marks for her business acumen in getting healthy foods into the hands of children, who increasingly are considered to be out of shape.
Since 2001, roughly one in three California schoolchildren has remained either under or over their ideal ratio of body fat to muscle, according to fitness-test results, reported to the state Department of Education, for fifth-, seventh-and ninth-graders.

The Lincoln staff makes pizzas with nonfat mozzarella cheese for the entire Vista Unified district.
Hohn, 52, has spent 15 years with Vista Unified and, at one point, handled Oceanside Unified's nutrition program at the same time.
She also is helping direct a wellness program, set to begin soon on Vista Unified's 29 campuses, that will call for physical fitness activities and set guidelines on what children should eat and do to stay in shape.
Instead, it relies on co-ops with campuses to sell food from the lunchroom and vending machines without using vending companies.
This allows Hohn and her staff to have more direct control over what is in the machines and the prices charged.
