What women need to know about post-menopausal nutrition

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Given the changes in weight and body chemistry, women over 40 need a wide range of vitamins including calcium, vitamins D and B12 to help cope with menopause.

Nutrition is important during every life stage, and your needs continue to change as you age. After menopause, women have different nutritional needs and meeting them is important to their health. Calcium, vitamins D and B12 are nutrients older women need more of. Increasing consumption of dairy foods, especially skim or low-fat milk and yogurt, can help with these extra nutrient needs. In addition to the changes in nutrition, weight changes seem to coincide with menopause. This increase may be a function of a slowing metabolism or decreased energy expenditure. Women need to maintain regular strength training and physical activity for good health.
