Minister of Health supports herbal HIV treatment
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
In The Mercury, an HIV-positive individual expresses support for South African Minister of Health's promotion of herbal remedies in the treatment of HIV.
I totally agree with the Minister of Health that herbal treatment forms a vital element in the healing of people living with HIV and I happen to be one of those who prefer using medication made right here at home by local people who understand my socio-economic status.
For too long I have been silent sometimes when people attacked the minister for her promotion of the use of herbs to fight HIV and now I have reached a stage where I would rather be damned than keep silent when I know that my own struggle against the virus is slowly being won through the use of herbal therapy.
It is sad when the multi-nationals manipulate the media because of their economic prowess in promoting antiretrovirals and when people like Patience Mavata, who has come up with the medication which I am using, cannot get publicity so that more people can get help.
She is a woman who does not hassle people for money when they come to her, she would rather be broke than deny people medication because of money.
Are they interested in healing their own people or just plain greedy?
When I was first diagnosed with the virus my CD4 count was 177 and because I am using the herbal therapy it is now 475.
Why is it so difficult to understand that on our own we Africans can come up with alternative therapy for HIV?
The media must start being fair and save people's lives by reporting the stories of people like me so that people can live.
HIV can be treated (of course not cured) by alternative homegrown medication.
Personally I do not envisage the day when the need will arise for me to use antiretrovirals.
