New Algorithm to Affect Business Email Communications & Fight Spam (press release)

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

ActivSoftware (http://www.ActivSoftware.com) announced today that its email application sever, XM Mail Server, added a new algorithm to better ensure email delivery to the major email service providers, such as YAHOO and HotMail. The new feature is called 'slow start outbound connection ramping.'

XM Mail server is an email application server that gives email campaign managers the ability to easily build dynamic email applications. Much the same as to Web applications, email applications can be database or event driven. Email Applications can be as simple as an application to send a monthly newsletter - to as complicated as an ecommerce data mining application that sends email based on a large set of variables. In addition to providing an email application runtime, XMS is also an RFC compliant high performance SMTP server sometimes referred to as a message transfer agent, or MTA.

According to Rob Thrasher, PR Director at ActivSoftware, "This is way more than just a new feature. It represents a new way to use software technology to better communicate with email recipients and to avoid getting flagged as spam. It's all based on protecting your [IP Addresses reputation as a legitimate sender of mass email. This new algorithm, combined with the concept of local domain control, nearly eliminates delivery failures.

The algorithm works by initially sending a very low number of emails via simultaneous connections to any one ESP and for any one IP address. It monitors delivery failure to success ratios and slowly ramps up the number of simultaneous sends to that email service provider from that particular IP address. It then rapidly backs off the number of simultaneous sends when the ratios begin to work against the campaign.
