White tea is expensive but packs an antioxidant punch

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Rated the highest of all teas in antioxidants, white tea commands a high price to match.

Claimed to be the highest price ever realised by any type of tea during the past century old history of tea plantations, the upmarket silvery tipped tea known as 'white tea' was bought by the Kolkata-based Tea Group Exports at a recent auction held here. Marketed by KDHP, owned earlier by Tata Tea limited, white tea is a special product made out of pure tea buds and processed carefully. It is very rich in antioxidants and hence considered to be very good for health. The best effect of white tea can only be achieved by chewing them directly, company sources said. It takes one month to produce just 25 kg of white Tea, Tata Tea Vice President T Damu said. Tata Tea holds 19 per cent share in KDHP after it was converted into one of the largest participatory management companies in the world with over 12,000 of its workers becoming share holders early this year.
