by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Instead of putting harsh chemicals on your skin, opt for these natural alternatives that you can make in your kitchen.

For centuries before supermarkets, beauty sites and infomercials, man has made cosmetics, using what was grown, sown and owned by housewives, herbalists and beekeepers. Now, with the moves towards natural beauty and rising interest in organics, New Zealand women are looking at making their own cosmetics from natural products. Natural cosmetics aren't the cleanest and easiest thing to make, and you often want to eat rather than wear the ingredients! Quick cleansers: Almond milk for oily skin (see below), apricot oil for dry skin, or Buttermilk for any skin type. Apply with cotton wool softly rub with fingertips to loosen dirt and wipe off. 2 teaspoons almond meal 150 ml water whip in a blender for 2 minutes. Apply to the face daily and leave to dry on the skin as a toner, or wipe off with soft tissues as a cleanser. Honey Cleansers -for any skin type 1 teaspoon honey 2 tablespoons warm milk Blend together to make a thin lotion. Olive Oil Cleanser -Good for removing city grime 2 teaspoons olive oil 1 teaspoon honey Mix together, apply to the face and neck with the fingertips. Wash off with a mild infusion of Chamomile. Violet Complexion Milk 24 violet flowers 150 ml water 2 tablespoons almond meal Blend almond meal and water for two minutes or shake in a screw top jar until milky. Pimple Remedy Take an orange calendula marigold petal and bruise it between the fingers and press it to the spot for two minutes. Castor oil and honey can be dabbed morning and night onto a large, boil-like pimple to draw it to a head. Try out different natural beauty recipes and test them to see which suits you the best.
