Work out at home to save money on gym fees
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
With the cost of gym memberships being what they are, you can save a few dollars by turning your home into a personal gym.
These are all legitimate reasons not to join a gym, but they are not good reasons to avoid working out.
Most people do not have an extra room to use as a home gym, but everyone has a little space that they could squeeze a few pieces of equipment into, making them feel motivated and ready to work out.
If the garage is your choice for a home-based gym, place carpet down over the concrete to warm up the room and fans all around to cool you off.
Depending on how much room you have and what your favorite cardio activity is, you can then purchase some workout equipment.
A treadmill, elliptical trainer or a stationary bicycle are the standard types of cardio equipment.
Go to your local exercise-equipment store and try them all.
Others seem great for the first five minutes, then begin to seem rickety and cheap.
You do not need all the bells and whistles, but you should have the option to increase resistance manually and have various terrains.
Purchase a resistance band, medium (slightly heavy, but not too light) dumbbells, a large fitness ball and a yoga mat.
Most of the equipment that you buy comes with various exercises so that you know what you are doing.
There are many traveling personal trainers who will come into your home and work out with you.
The best way to get a good workout while at home is by circuit training and by using multifunctional exercises.
Make sure to stretch or do a few yoga moves after each workout.
As time permits, and/or your fitness level increases, add a few minutes to your cardio workout or your stretching routine.
# Exercises: Biceps curls, abs, hamstring ball curls (lie down with feet on ball, curl ball into hips and stretch back out).
