People aren't taking notice of the new food pyramid
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
It has been two months since the FDA's new food pyramid was announced, yet most people are still clueless about it.
When asked if she could name at least three of the six food groups in the government's new dietary guidelines, Kay Moschettieri, 38, replied, "Junk, junk and more junk?"
While Moschettieri was joking, she admitted that she didn't have a clue about the rather complicated new food pyramid.
Two months after the U.S. Department of Agriculture released its revised pyramid graphic, many consumers are vague at best, and dazed and confused at worst, about exactly what the pyramid says.
Barbara McCreary, 59, didn't know what shape the new graphic took (OK, so it was kind of a trick question, since it's still a pyramid) but did know it used food groups to get its nutrition message across.
James Lowe, 54, knew the new guide is a pyramid and named dairy (it's milk now) vegetables (correct) and meat (minus the beans).
She correctly answered that oils should be limited and that fresh fruits, vegetables and grains were the groups that should be eaten the most.
"I read the paper to stay informed, and we try to watch our diet because of cholesterol," she said.
"I'm totally not a good person to interview," she said, "I have to watch what I eat for medical reasons."
Jackson knew that the food group to limit most are fats (listed as oils on the new chart) and sugar (which isn't a food group, but she's right).
When asked what the new governmental dietary guidelines are, Tillman said, "It's a pyramid of the basic four food groups you're supposed to eat to stay healthy (OK, so he missed a couple).
"It's some sort of a new pyramid with a different shape (right).
"They said you shouldn't have to worry about your health until you're 30.
