"Green bullets" are more harmful to the environment

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

A new study has shown that "green bullets" used by the military on Cape Cod to stop the contamination of the water supply are more dangerous to the environment. The "green bullets" release toxins that are leached into the soil.

Ammunition that was supposed to be environmentally safe may be causing more problems than conventional bullets. Six years ago, the military began using the so-called "green bullets" at Camp Edwards on Cape Cod. It was thought the new bullets wouldn't contaminate the water supply under the Upper Cape bad. But after a (m) million rounds were fired at base ranges, new data indicate the bullets might actually leech into the soil more quickly. The "green bullets" are made of nylon and tungsten, a metal that supposedly didn't dissolve into the ground like lead. Now, the Army is at the base conducting the first-ever field tests on how tungsten moves through the ground. In 1997, the U-S Environmental Protection Agency called a cease fire at Camp Edwards and ordered a clean up of lead buried in and around the shooting ranges.
