Homeopathic remedies can be used as first aid

If you want a natural way to stock your first aid kit, include homeopathic remedies like Belladonna and Arnica.
Several readers have asked for recommendations for basic homoeopathic remedies to keep in their first-aid kits.
Homoeopath Sarah Worne (tel: 01273 480089, www.leweshomoeopathic.com) suggests the following items, available in either 6C or 30C potency.
For 6C remedies, take one pill three to six times a day until symptoms improve.
For 30C, take one pill three times a day.
If the condition is acute or severe, a remedy may be needed every half hour, but always stop on improvement, she advises.
Good for any injury, accident or physical exhaustion; speeds up recovery from strain, bruising and soreness; good for jet lag.
Nux vomica Good hangover remedy; for any overindulgence and irritability from rich food and alcohol; constipation (at home).
Lycopodium For gut problems with bloating and gas; constipation (travelling).
Apis For treatment of bites, stings and hives, allergic reactions and general inflammation where skin is red.
Hypercal Cream by Nelsons or Helios For any abrasions.
Pyrethrum Spray by Nelsons Excellent for any insect bite and stings.
A common bacterium called group B streptococcus (GBS), which lives harmlessly in the guts of 30 per cent of people, threatens the lives of 700 of the circa 700,000 babies born annually in the UK.
Of these, at least 75 newborns die from GBS-related conditions, such as septicaemia, pneumonia and meningitis, according to Jane Plumb, chair and cofounder of the charity Group B Strep Support (GBSS).
The Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists recommends that all mothers with risk factors, including GBS in pregnancy, premature birth, premature rupture of membranes, or fever during labour, should be offered intravenous antibiotics during labour.
