Think of your skin before you break up

A new study has shown that breaking up with your partner is just as damaging to your skin as it is to your emotional well-being.
HE emotional stress of splitting up with your partner can permanently damage and age your skin according to a new report from skincare experts Clinique Laboratories released today.
The report reveals that the turmoil of a breakup can affect your skin in ways that can impair its ability to function properly and researchers believe that skin ages more rapidly during periods of emotional stress.
Stress compromises your skin's barrier, making it more vulnerable to invasion by aging, oxygen-based free radicals.
And, Clinique's UK-wide survey of 2,000 people suggests that many romantic relationships are less than rose-tinted.
A whopping 39% of men and women blame loving work more than their partner as the main reason for splitting up and 67% agreed that having an affair or finding out about one would be enough to call it a day.
Other common causes of a break up included not spending enough time together (37%), differences in sexual desires (33%), no longer finding your partner attractive (30%), religious or cultural differences (15%) and differences in spending habits (7%) Whereas most men go out drinking with friends to get over a breakup, women feed their pain with shopping sprees, sympathy from friends and family and convincing themselves 'he didn't deserve her'.
From relationship psychotherapist Paula Hall 1 You feel you're carrying all the relationship's responsibility; you'd rather talk to your friend about home problems than your partner.
2 You feel tired and lethargic with your partner but seem to come alive at work or with friends.
3 You no longer care that your partner is eating unhealthily, getting no exercise and working too hard.
4 You are aware that you're becoming more irrationally irritable by their habits and idiosyncrasies.
8 You argue constantly - or can't be bothered to argue any more.
