Flu season starts again

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

Doctors are urging parents to take the proper precautions for their children so they can avoid the flu this year.

Doctors say exposure to more germs in schools means more opportunities for children to get sick. Young children can catch as many as 10 infectious diseases annually. According to a Harris Interactive survey of 1,100 U.S. moms, 62 percent are most worried about influenza, while 48 percent worry about stomach viruses. Colds, ear infections, sore throats and pink eye infections are a source of worry. Some of those illnesses are caused by bacteria and may require antibiotic treatment. For mothers, one of the hardest things about their children being sick is getting them to take medication prescribed by their doctor. The survey showed 61 percent of mothers say their child has refused to take medicine because of its taste, and 49 percent have offered bribes to encourage their child to take an antibiotic. Researchers say it's important to remember even if your child is feeling better, he or she should take the full course of treatment to help eliminate the bacteria and prevent antibiotic resistance.
