Europe to tax airlines for pollution
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
The EU has proposed a plan to tax airlines because of the significant amount of pollution planes produce. If enacted, passengers will pay on average $10.00 more per ticket.
The commission proposes including airlines in the European Union's emissions trading scheme, which caps the amount of carbon dioxide an industry is allowed to produce, the Financial Times reported Monday.
The move, which would put air carriers in the same category as with oil refineries and power generators, would include any carrier that departs from any EU airport.
The initiative has the support of some airlines, including British Airways.
