Epileptic seizures may be treatable

by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor

A new device surgically implanted in a person's brain may help stop seizures before they start.

The device is designed to be implanted in a patient's brain to detect and arrest seizures as they begin. The unit accomplishes that by cooling a small region of the brain, thereby effectively blocking the erratic electrical activity, said G.P Peterson, provost and professor of mechanical, aerospace, and nuclear engineering at Rensselaer. Peterson and his team are collaborating with researchers at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The research and the potential of the device are detailed in the July 16 issue of New Scientist.
