Drinking green tea protects against many ailments
by Mike Adams, the Health Ranger, NaturalNews Editor
Drinking four or five cups of green tea a day can help protect against cancer and heart disease, aid in weight loss, ease arthritis and chronic pain and even help prevent Alzheimer's disease.
Coffee is America's hot drink of choice, but new research findings say we should really consider tea -- and not just any kind of tea.
The American Institute for Cancer Research has released findings that say you should make it green.
Green tea is an acquired taste that not everyone can appreciate.
In fact, experts say only 15 percent of Americans drink it.
But if you're interested in preventing or maybe stopping cancer in its tracks, you probably need to re-think your taste preferences.
A little green tea every day has some very big health benefits.
The plant's nutrients contain a substance called ECGC.
"It binds to a protein that may be an initiator or instigator of the cancer process in cells," nutritional expert Leslie Bonci said.
"Therefore, if it binds with this protein, it prevents this protein from going on to start the cancer process, which is amazing."
What's equally amazing is that ECGC does it better than any medication.
"For the therapeutic benefit, you have to let the water be in contact with the teabag for about two minutes," Bonci said.
You can add sugar, honey or milk, or even drink it iced, but you need to drink four or five cups every day for therapeutic benefits.
Studies show green tea may also protect the heart by preventing bad cholesterol from sticking to arteries; help weight loss by slightly boosting metabolism; ease arthritis and chronic pain conditions with anti-inflammatory properties; and maybe even help prevent Alzheimer's disease.
By now, you know green tea is a good thing.
But it has vitamin K, so not everyone can drink it.
If you're on Coumadin or heavy aspirin therapy, green tea is not the drink for you.
